President meets Papua New Guinea PM at APEC

(VOV) - President Truong Tan Sang and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill have exchanged views on measures to promote bilateral relations including the strengthening of exchange visits at all levels.

Meeting with PM Peter O'Neill on the sidelines of the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 10, President Sang affirmed Vietnam always places importance on boosting the friendship and cooperation with Papua New Guinea.

The two leaders also examined ways to intensify interaction between business communities and the signing of agreements aiming to increase cooperation in such fields as economies, trade, investment and energy, and take full advantage of potential for broader cooperation.

PM Peter O'Neill invited President Sang to visit Papua New Guinea while the former was also invited to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

Both sides agreed to advance continued close collaboration at multilateral forums, and within the APEC framework, especially when Vietnam will host the APEC Year in 2017 and Papua New Guinea will hold the same event in 2018.
