The Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that by September 16, bird flu was contained effectively nationwide, except for southern Tra Vinh province, which has not yet met the 21-day deadline for no bird flu outbreaks.

Localities in the country have begun this year’s first stage of giving supplementary vaccinations to more than 164 million poultry.

Vietnam also successfully contained blue ear disease known as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome in pigs by September 16.

The Veterinary Department is still supervising the prevention work in central Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces to avoid possible outbreaks of the epidemics.
