The French Development Agency (AFD) will provide a grant of over 330,000 Euros to assist Vietnam with the conduct of a study of the cotton industry for potential development.

The project, recently approved by the Industry Ministry, will last until the end of the year, and to review the Government's cotton industry development programme and seek opportunities to develop the industry through 2010 and towards 2020.

It will also focus on domestic cotton farming to replace imported cotton materials, and creating more jobs for people in cotton-farming areas in order to reduce poverty.
