The association of overseas Vietnamese from Hai Duong province living in Moscow contributed US$1,000 in support of people and soldiers in the Truong Sa (Spratly) island district during its debut ceremony on March 24.
Nguyen Cong Nhiem, President of the association’s Executive Board, said the association gathers over 300 people born in Vietnam’s northern province of Hai Duong who are living and working in Moscow.
In response to a campaign “Fund for Beloved Truong Sa” launched by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Vietnamese community in Russia has mobilised over US$21,500.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada has also called on the Vietnamese community in the country to support Truong Sa soldiers and islanders.
