Ha Tinh hosts Vietnam Marine Trademark Forum

(VOV) -The fifth Vietnam Marine Trademark Forum, celebrating Vietnam’s 2013 Sea and Island Week and themed “Sea Sanctuaries with Sustainable Development of Sea and Island Resources”, was held in Ha Tinh province on June 7.

Addressing the event, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Chu Pham Ngoc Hien explained the forum’s goal to build and promote Vietnamese sea trademarks and beautiful landscapes.

He noted establishing sea sanctuaries is an effective environmental protection mechanism, contributing to socio-economic development and sustainable national development.

Participants presented reports on promoting marine trademarks, opportunities for Vietnam to successfully implement its sea strategy, the potential effects of climate change, island locality development orientations, and exploiting the sea’s potential for economic and tourism development.

The forum gave managers, scientists, provincial leaders, and domestic and international organisations and businesses a chance to share information and experiences in capitalising on marine-based economic potential, protecting the ecological environment of islands and archipelagos, and improving the reputation of local marine trademarks.

It also helps raise public awareness of the role of marine areas in national construction and defence, and honour the trademarks of Vietnam’s islands and archipelagos.

Ha Tinh province also hosted the fourth Sea Economic Forum on the same day.
