Laos, Vietnam enhance traditional relationship

(VOV) -The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Lao province of Bolikhamsay hosted a conference to boost the special ties between Vietnam and Laos on September 11 in Bolikhamsay.

Addressing the meeting, Bolikhamsay Governor Pannoi Mani said the conference aimed to celebrate Vietnam’s 69th National Day and the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. He also expressed the Lao people’s gratitude for Vietnam's great and efficient support for their revolution.

Ambassador Hung thanked Laos for holding this important event, adding that Vietnam and Laos have enjoyed a special relationship nurtured by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, and upheld by the two nations' leaders and people.

Hung affirmed the Vietnamese Party and Government constantly followed Laos’s achievements in national construction, saying that he hoped the two sides will step up closer cooperation and special ties alike.

Cooperation between the two countries has been expanded across a variety of fields, including politics, national defence, security, and education. As part of the countries’ economic cooperation, Vietnam has pumped US$5 billion into more than 400 projects in Laos.
