Navy ship docks Co To port, rescues stranded tourists

(VOV) - On July 30, navy ship No. 634 docked at Co To port, bringing first 170 tourists to the mainland, most of them are children and elderly.

These tourists are among nearly 2,500 tourists who are stranded on Co To Island, Quang Ninh province due to heavy rains in recent days.

The ship may spend five hours on transporting the passengers to land due to bad weather.

At the same time, many hotels in Co To Island has provied free meals for stranded tourists. Additionally, local hotels offer 30-50% discounts on room price for needy tourists.

According to provincial authorities, since July 25, torrential rains have caused 17 deaths and 15 injuries and destroyed 3,700 houses, schools, and healthcare centres have collapsed.

The total damage has amounted to VND1.5 trillion including more than VND500 billion suffered by the coal industry.
