The Ministry of Health on September 29 confirmed another fatal case of A/H1N1 influenza, bringing the country’s total death toll to 15.
The latest fatality was a 21-year old female patient in Ho Chi Minh City, who was 28 weeks pregnant. She was brought to Can Gio district hospital with symptoms of cough and fever, then transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Heart Hospital. However, she died of pneumonia and heart failure on September 27.
Also on September 29, 248 new cases of infection were reported.
So far, Vietnam has confirmed 8,853 cases of A/H1N1 flu, resulting in 15 deaths. The epidemic has spread to 56 provinces and cities and more than 100 schools nationwide.
