Indonesian police arrest 31 Chinese suspected of cyber fraud

Police in Indonesia’s Bogor city have arrested 31 Chinese nationals, including nine women, who were believed to be members of an international syndicate of cyber fraud.

According to Bogor police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Herindra, the Chinese were arrested in a raid on the night of June 20 in the sub-district of East Bogor, the West Java city after the police received a tip from local residents about suspicious activities in a house in the area.

The arrestees had no official immigration documents, and they were allegedly to operate cyber fraud targeting Indonesian people, he said.

The police confiscated a number of hand phones, computer sets and other electronic devices.

The members of alleged syndicate have been handed over to the immigration office for further investigation.
