Pakistan and Vietnam should take advantage of their experiences in vegetable and fruit production to coordinate export promotion efforts.

The statement was made by Shomoon Sadiq, Chairman of the Pakistani Association for Exporting Agricultural Products at a working session with General Secretary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Gia Tuc in Hanoi on January 11.

With a population of 145 million, Pakistan is a major importer of rice and aquatic products from Vietnam.

Sadiq added that Vietnam and Pakistan could cooperate in producing high-quality vegetables and fruits, especially mangoes and oranges for export to demanding markets such as the US, the EU and Japan.

The VCCI General Secretary spoke highly of Sadiq's suggestions and affirmed that the VCCI will create favourable conditions for the two countries' businesses to boost cooperation and investment. He also urged the Pakistani side to favour Vietnamese enterprises doing business in this market.
