Vietnamese duo Tran Ngoc Cao Son and Nguyen Minh Thien won the men's Asian Junior's Beach Volleyball Championships on February 12 at the Chaiyaphum Main Stadium in Thailand while the host's Kasinee Gudtalang and Pittawan Wongchaiya took the women's title.

In the final of the under 20-year-old event, the Vietnamese men edged Indonesia's Sutrisno and Dian Putra Santosa 21-19, 21-19.

“The junior team's first championship title comes as a surprise, but it can only encourage and provide confidence to young players in the future,” said Tran Duc Phan, head of the volleyball section of the National Sports and Physical Training Committee.

The championships, which was held for the first time from February 10-13, attracted men and women's junior squads from 15 Asian countries and regions, including powerhouses China, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
