Vietnam is an important pillar of India’s Act East Policy, says President Murmu

VOV.VN - Vietnam is an important pillar of India’s Act East policy and a key partner in India’s Indo-Pacific Vision, Indian President Droupadi Murmu told newly accredited Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai at a reception in New Delhi on October 26.

Murmu welcomed the Vietnamese diplomat and hoped during his working term the two countries would continue to cooperate well to successfully implement the Vietnam-India Joint Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and People approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam in December 2020.

She also affirmed that the Vietnam-India relations are developing substantially on the basis of the traditional friendship and common strategic interests.

For his part, Ambassador Hai vowed to work hard to deepen the Vietnam – India comprehensive strategic partnership and increase bilateral cooperation in various fields, from politics, defence, security to economy, trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, sci-tech research and development, education and cultural exchanges.

He conveyed Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s greetings and invitation to visit Vietnam to President Murmu.
