President Phuc pays Tet visit to Da Nang on first day of Lunar New Year

VOV.VN - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid a Lunar New Year visit to the armed forces and some localities based in the central city of Da Nang on February 1, the first day of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Meeting with the armed forces of Da Nang city, President Phuc applauded their major achievements recorded in 2021, adding that despite being negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic which severely impacted the central city's socio-economic development, the municipal Party Committee and People's Committee have put in place several creative and drastic solutions aimed at combatting the pandemic.

In this context, local armed forces have represented an exemplary model in terms of pandemic prevention and control, uniting with the city to do well in social security work to step by step bring the pandemic under control and move towards economic recovery.

The State leader wished the armed forces of the central city to reap a great deal of  success in the coming year. He also requested them to always stay vigilant, build a strong force, and competently implement resolutions adopted at the 13th National Party and the Da Nang city Party Committee.

The same day saw President Phuc also pay a Tet visit to officials and Party members of the Hai Chau District Party Committee, a central district of Da Nang.

Upon reporting to the President, Vu Quang Hung, secretary of the Hai Chau District Party Committee, said that the district had well performed its socio-economic targets during the past year, with the poverty eradication rate reaching 107% of its set plan.

This year's goal for Hai Chau district is urban embellishment and reconstruction, during which it will strive to become a smart city with many new breakthroughs, he added.

President Phuc therefore anticipates that Hai Chau will becoming the leading district in the city's revolutionary movement, primarily because this is the central district of Da Nang where the city's talents and resources are based, especially intellectuals, religions, along with commercial and service establishments.

The State President asked Hai Chau to redouble its efforts in dealing waste treatment, and offering the most favourable conditions for local people and businesses.
