V.League 1 placed higher than Thai and Chinese Leagues at AFC’s rankings

VOV.VN - The nation’s premier football league the V.League 1 has been ranked higher than the Thai League and the Chinese Super League in the October club competitions ranking as announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The V.League 1 ranked 10th in Asian region and fifth in the East Asia zone.

This comes about due to the good performances by local sides Hanoi FC, Viettel FC, and Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) FC during the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup over the past three years.

This year has seen HAGL FC and Viettel FC help the country accumulate 10,600 points, thereby raising the total number of points for the nation up to 44,656 points.

The 10th position in Asia and fifth position in East Asia brings one additional slot for Vietnam to compete in the AFC Champions League. Indeed, the V.League 1’s representatives will have one official slot and two play-off slots for the continental tournament.

The Thai League ranked 12th in Asia and sixth in East Asia, meaning Thailand will have one official slot and one play-off slot for the regional tournament.

Elsewhere, the Chinese Super League stood at 16th in Asia and seventh in East Asia.
