HCM City requires 78,000 new employees in third quarter

Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to need about 78,000 new employees for the third quarter of 2018, according to the HCM City Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (FALMI).

Most of the vacancies are expected to be in sales and marketing, mechanics, architecture and civil engineering, information technology, garment and textile – footwear, human resources management, corporate management and accountancy.

The local labour market needs more high-quality and skilled workers in key sectors, said FALMI Deputy Director Tran Anh Tuan. 

The city will also work to develop its pool of skilled and trained employees to aid the business expansion of enterprises both at home and overseas, he added.

Last quarter, the city needed as many as 80,000 workers, following the establishment of approximately 5,600 new companies since the beginning of the year that have created jobs. 

Most of the new jobs were available in the fields of sales and marketing, services, textile and garment – footwear and logistics.
