WEF's Country Strategic Dialogue on Vietnam singled out for praise

VOV.VN - The World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Country Strategic Dialogue on Vietnam, which was held in both online and offline formats on October 29, proved to be a success, according to Borge Brende, president of the WEF.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh  co-chaired the WEF’s Country Strategic Dialogue on Vietnam 2021 on October 29 for the first time via videoconference at the invitation of Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF.

Opening with the theme of “Public Private Partnership - The Key Driver for Comprehensive Recovery and Sustainable, Resilient and Innovative Growth”, the dialogue saw the participation of  Brende, along with ministers and leaders of Vietnamese agencies. This is in addition to 70 global and regional leaders of the world’s leading groups and businesses.

Speaking during a recent interview granted to the media, Brende said the Vietnamese PM’s message on the country’s development plans and targets moving forward has received a positive response from the business community.

The WEF president stated that he has received numerous messages from many CEOs stating that they were impressed by the Vietnamese Government leader’s remarks and answers to questions raised during the course of the event. He added that it displays the great interest of the business community in the dialogue.

Brende said the nation has been an important country for the WEF, whilst the joint co-operative ties between have been developing well, particularly after the WEF-ASEAN 2018 hosted by Vietnam  was described as a great success. He noted that it was the primary reason why the WEF invited the nation to co-chair the important dialogue on this occasion.

According to him, the WEF holds both short- and long-term Vietnamese policies in high regard, along with the country’s efforts in responding to and safely adapting to the pandemic while implementing targets and visions towards the goal of catching up with high-income developed countries by 2045.

The nation has therefore taken measures for both safe and flexible adaptation to the COVID-19 pandemic, implemented a vaccine strategy, and has entered a period of economic and production recovery now the pandemic has been contained, the WEF president said. According to him, the country’s long-term policies serve to reiterate the Government’s aspirations, vision, and efforts for stronger development.

He went on to add that the nation is widely considered a dynamic economy and a hub in terms of the regional and global value chain. The country has been able to demonstrate its commitment to renewal and reform through policies to promote new growth driving forces, such as the green economy, smart solutions, and renewable energy.

Brende noted that the WEF has always paid close attention to the public-private partnership (PPP), which is seen as an important driver of comprehensive recovery and sustainable, inclusive, and innovative growth.

The WEF will strive to accompany the country moving forward in promoting PPP and launch regular co-operation programmes and annual activities in Davos, he added.
