Organising committee for World Economic Forum on ASEAN set up

The Prime Minister has inked Decision No.395/QD-TTg on the establishment of the organising committee for the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) scheduled in Hanoi this year.

Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son is assigned as head of the organising committee. Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh and Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Van Thao will serve as its deputy heads.

The committee is tasked to support the Government and the Prime Minister in the preparation and organisation of the forum while coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies, localities and businesses in the process.
It comprises a secretariat and sub-committees on content, protocols, logistics, communication-culture and security-health.

The World Economic Forum was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

In the forum’s capacity as the International Organisation for Public-Private Cooperation, this meeting will be an ideal platform for ASEAN senior decision-makers from a range of sectors to facilitate greater collaboration among industry, government and civil society, and to work on shaping the brightest future for the region’s young.
