Major newspapers in Laos on December 19 welcomed a two-day visit by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and its traditional bilateral relationship with Laos.

Pasasson newspaper, the official organ of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Laos, said that it is a great honour for the Lao people, especially Vientiane’s people, to receive PM Dung, a close friend of Laos whose visit symbolises the great friendship and special solidarity between the two nations.

Vietnam
and Laos are the two neighbouring countries that stood shoulder to shoulder in the struggle against imperialism for national independence, the paper said. Today, the two countries continue to support each other for the cause of national construction and development, as well as for each country’s deeper integration in the region and the world.

The paper said that the visit, which is made at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh, is expected to further boost bilateral relations in the interest of the two countries’ peoples and for the sake of peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

The Lao National Television also broadcast a programme on the Vietnamese PM’s visit.
