The MHD group and the Handicapped International France (HI France) will carry out a project to help disabled people move around the streets more easily and safely under the sponsorship of the World Bank (WB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), according to a press briefing in Hanoi on September 13.

The project, which won a Vietnam Innovation prize in 2006, aims to convey the travel needs and rights of disabled people to law makers and the community and encourage them to use safe and registered traffic vehicles.

Under the project, the handicapped will take training courses on traffic regulations and means of transport for them, and a survey on disabled people’s accessibility to transport services will be conducted.
