Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on October 12 sent messages of sympathy over the great human and property losses caused by storm Lekima and floods to central and northern regions of Vietnam.

In a message cabled to PM Nguyen Tan Dung, the Chinese Premier expressed his hope that Vietnam will soon overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster and to recover normal life and production.


Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi and chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lu Bin also sent messages of regards to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem.


According to the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, by October 11 storm Lekima and floods had claimed 82 lives and caused an estimated loss of more than VND2 trillion. Nine persons are still missing.
