VOV.VN - President Yoon Suk-yeol of the Repiblic of Korea called at Samsung Electronics’ Research and Development Centre in Hanoi on June 24 before concluding his official visit to Vietnam.

President Yoon met with about 50 young experts and engineers working in the centre. He said that the two countries have made remarkable progress in developing their partnership, from cooperative production partners to important research and development partners.

The RoK President pledged to support joint research projects of the two countries to create innovative values, and to expand the programme to enhance the capacity building of future generations.

Samsung’s production lines in Vietnam produce more than 50% of the world’s smartphones. Last December the tech giant inaugurated its US$220 million research and development centre in Hanoi, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Currently, approximately 2,200 employees are working at the 16-storey building to research and develop software and technology for mobile phones, along with other network and smart devices.
