Vietnam will participate in the first Asian Beach Games to be held in Bali, Indonesia next October 18-26. As many as 10,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries worldwide will take part in the region’s biggest beach games.

Vietnamese athletes will compete in eight of seventeen events, including bodybuilding, Pencak Silat, beach soccer (15 Vietnamese players), beach handball, swimming, Sepak Takraw, surfing (3) and windsurfing (11).

The Vietnamese team, headed by Lam Quang Thanh, director of Ho Chi Minh City National Sport Training Centre, will be comprised of over 80 people, including three deputy heads of delegation, doctors and coaches along with the athletes, some of whom have been listed to participate in the coming third ASIAN Indoor Games in Vietnam.

During the Games, Vietnam will set up a stall to advertise the ASIAN Indoor Games 3 and the country’s image to the world.

The Vietnamese team is expected to win medals in bodybuilding, Sepak Takraw, Pencak Silat and beach handball.
