Defence ministry- national customs portal connection

VOV.VN - A connection between the national one-stop-shop (OSS) customs portal and the portal of the Defence Ministry was launched at a July 21 ceremony in Hanoi.

In a speech, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said the digitization of border procedures will affect the operation of businesses, create a favorable business climate, and contribute to administrative reforms and the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.

The Defence Ministry -the tenth among 14 ministries- has connected with the national portal.

"The connection between the two portals will greatly benefit administrative management, trade fraud prevention and national security and sovereignty safeguarding, and help ensure consistence in dealing with administrative procedures at border stations and border gates.

It aims to enhance the application of the OSS mechanism at seaports nationwide, facilitating the Defence Ministry’s processing of procedures related to export-import goods and means of transport," he said.

The connection demonstrates the efforts to improve the business climate and improve national competitiveness, towards further simplifying administrative procedure.

By 2020, all the administrative procedures concerning State management for export-import goods, passengers and vehicles are set to be processed through online public services within the national OSS customs mechanism, so as to make Vietnam take the top spot in ASEAN in terms of the time for customs clearance, the deputy PM said.

Mr Hue added that it will also help safeguard national security and sovereignty. He called on the Ministry of Defense to work hand in hand with the relevant agencies to continue the national one-stop-shop mechanism and to fully join ASEAN’s one-stop-shop mechanism.

The Defence Ministry will direct the Border Guard High Command and relevant agencies to continue intensifying administrative procedure services related to the ministry’s functions, towards applying all 13 administrative procedures of the Ministry nationwide by 2030.

Seven border gates and seaports have so far connected to the national OSS customs portal so far, said Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard High Command Major General Nguyen Van Nam.

All businesses operating in sea transportation can finalize entry and exit formalities and those related to sea vessels in transit, as well as access freight information at the national one-stop-shop customs portal.
