Cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan plays an important role in promoting solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

Mr Triet made the statement while receiving Tsutsui Toyoharu, general secretary of the Japan-Vietnam Cultural Association (JVCA) in Hanoi on April 10.

He appreciated Mr Toyoharu, who is also president and chief executive officer of Capital Partners Securities C. Ltd., for his efforts to encourage Japan’s small-and medium-sized businesses to invest in Vietnam.

Vietnam welcomes foreign investors, including those from Japan, said Mr Triet.

He said he hopes that Mr Toyoharu will continue to call on Japanese entrepreneurs to do business in Vietnam.

For his part, Mr Toyoharu said that JVCA wants to promote the long-term cooperation with Vietnam and that it will increase cultural exchange between the two countries.

He confirmed that JVCA will seek partners in Japan to help train young Vietnamese people who will return and make contributions to their country in future.

He said that the recent signing of the Japan Vietnam Economic Partnership Agreement (JVEPA) will offer new prospects for stronger trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

JVCA is hosting an annual Japanese cherry blossom festival in Hanoi from April 10-12.
