Former national library director honoured with French order
France’s Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noel Porier on March 9 presented the French Order of Arts and Literature to Pham The Khang, former Director of the National Library of Vietnam (NLV).
The former director also helped build an e-search system for nearly 60,000 French-language books, Porier added.
Initiated in 1957, the Order of Arts and Literature of France is to honour outstanding figures whose creativeness in literature and fine arts has helped make a contribution to popularise arts and literature in France and other countries around the world.
A number of well-known Vietnamese individuals have been awarded the order, including director Le Manh Thich, designer Minh Hanh, choreographer Nguyen Cong Nhac, writer Nguyen Huy Thiep, and translator Duong Tuong.
