A seminar on Japanese literature will be held in Hanoi from September 16-19 as part of a number of activities acknowledging the Mekong-Japan exchange year.

According to the Japan Centre for Cultural Exchanges in Vietnam, the seminar is part of a programme planned for Hanoi,Hue, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City during this year.

Researchers, literary critics and lovers of Japanese literature will have the chance to learn more about the topic through a presentation by Professor Mitsuyoshi Numano from Tokyo University.

The renowned novelist Haruki Murakami, whose stories “The Wind-up Birds Chronicles,” “Norwegian Wood” and “Sputnik Sweetheart” have been translated into Vietnamese and read by many local people, will also attend the seminar.

The centre, established in Vietnam in 2008, has made a great contribution to cultural activities and has helped to increase the understanding between Vietnam and Japan.
