Former petroleum executives prosecuted for trade fraud

The Investigation Police Bureau for Economic Management Order Offences (C46) on June 21 began proceeding procedures against four people accused of abusing position and power to appropriate assets in three petroleum companies under the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

The C46 issued arrest and search warrants for Tu Thanh Nghia, former General Director of the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas exploration joint venture (Vietsovpetro); Vo Quang Huy, former chief accountant of Vietsovpetro; Dinh Van Ngoc, former General Director of the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd (BSR); and Nguyen Tuan Hung, former head of the financial desk of the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP).

The Supreme People’s Procuracy approved the warrants the same day.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
