Vietnam Airlines, Turkish Airlines launch a codeshare cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines signed an agreement to launch a codeshare cooperation at a ceremony held in Istanbul, Turkey on June 6.

Accordingly, the two airlines will explore the potential for codeshares on passenger routes between Istanbul (IST) and Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN).

Bilal Ekşi, Director General Turkish Airlines said the cooperation will open up new opportunities to further boost the development of the two flag carriers.

Vietnam Airlines president and CEO Le Hong Ha noted that the codeshare cooperation would help promote economic, cultural and social exchanges between Vietnam and Turkey.

Turkish Airlines was established in 1933.  It has so far operated services to 344 destinations worldwide, making it one of the largest mainline carriers in the globe in the number of passenger destinations. The flag carrier has been a member of the Star Alliance network since April 1, 2008.

Founded in 1956, Vietnam Airlines flies to 64 destinations across 17 countries. It became a member of the SkyTeam Alliance in June 2010, becoming the first Southeast Asian carrier that have joined that alliance.
