Record setting Vietnamese Ao Dai introduced in Thailand

VOV.VN - An Ao Dai (traditional long dress) by designer Phuong Ho, which had set a Vietnamese record for the longest hand-made outfit with a length of 220.6 metres and a weight of 250 kg, was showcased on July 2 in Thailand.

The Ao Dai which set a Vietnamese record is called “Non Song Gam Voc” and is made using 410 metres of taffeta fabric and dozens of kilos of details of various kinds of materials. Designer Phuong Ho shares that it takes her team of over 20 workers more than a month to finally complete the Ao Dai.

The flap is made using 31 pieces of brocade, whilst it features numerous cultural and historic characteristics and landscapes of the nation, as well as 3D images of lotus leaves. In late April, the outfit was introduced at a fashion show in Phu Tho province during the Hung Kings’ Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week of 2023.

Katherine Minh Vy also takes on the role as vedette for the fashion show, with the child model being hugely experienced in many fashion events, including Vietnam International Fashion Week 2022.

The latest collection put together by designer Phuong Ho helps to introduce Vietnamese culture to a range of international friends present at the occasion.
