UN pledges additional technical assistance to Vietnam

VOV.VN - The United Nations will continue to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise and provide technical assistance to Vietnam in implementing the Strategic Partnership Cooperation Framework towards the realization of the set development goals.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, Pauline Tamesis, made the statement at a reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in Hanoi on April 13.

She said the Vietnam-UN relationship is a very strong and special partnership, helping the two sides to overcome past global challenges as well as to be more prepared for upcoming challenges.

Tamesis highly appreciated Vietnam’s dynamism and active contributions as a member of the United Nations over the past 45 years, as well as its recent commitments at the 26th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP26).

Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang for his part thanked the United Nations for its valuable support and assistance to Vietnam during the past 45 years, especially in the recent fight against COVID-19.

Through the COVAX mechanism, the UN has assisted Vietnam with vaccines, medical equipment and supplies, helping the country to effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic, reboot the economy and ensure social security, he said.

Amid global challenges ahead, he expressed hope that Vietnam would receive additional support and assistance from the United Nations to realize its sustainable development goals.
