Overseas Vietnamese invest in 370 local projects
VOV.VN - Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) from 29 countries and territories globally have invested in 376 projects in the nation worth approximately US$1.72 billion, according to Vu Van Chung, deputy director of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
The majority of investment made by OVs has been poured into 42 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, with a major focus on the processing and manufacturing industries.
Overseas remittances to the nation each year typically reaches over US$10 billion, with this figure at roughly US$12.5 billion for 2021, thereby representing a significant source to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development, Chung said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu, head of the State Committee for on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, affirmed that the local business climate has been highlighted by foreign enterprises, adding that there are numerous investment opportunities at various localities across the country.
Deputy Minister Hieu went on to express his hope that this community will further invest in the homeland, especially in the hi-tech and sustainable development fields in line with global development trends, while simultaneously strengthening connectivity between foreign financiers and Vietnamese localities for the purpose of mutual development.
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, there are roughly 5.3 million OVs living and working in over 130 countries and territories globally, mainly in developed countries.
Most notably, the high-quality workforce has always desired to make consideration contributions to national development and construction.
