OVs in Malaysia commemorate Vietnam National Day

(VOV) - The Vietnamese Liaison Committee in Malaysia hosted  an exchange and artistic performances on August 23 to mark the 69th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

Head of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee Tran Hong Chung said the event  gave Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) the chance to feel proud of the glorious history and achievements in national construction and development over the past 69 years since the country gained independence in 1945. It was also a good way for them to strengthen solidarity and mutual support within the community and make greater contributions to the homeland.

Vietnam Ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao spoke highly of the growing bilateral ties and encouraged Vietnamese nationals to obey laws of the resident country and make active contributions to preserving and developing the fine relations nurtured by the two peoples.

The Vietnamese diplomat also updated information on the current situation of Vietnam’s sea and islands after China’s withdrawal of the drilling rig Ocean-981 from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

The committee also launched a campaign to raise funds in support of soldiers of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
