Islamic dignitaries and thousands of followers in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang have recently begun the Ramadan Month of Fasting.

Musa Haji, head of the representative board of the provincial Muslim community, urged local Muslims to uphold the tradition of solidarity between ethnic groups, contribute to national construction and implement Party guidelines and State policies.

An Giang province is now home to more than 12,500 Islamic followers, mainly Cham ethnic minority people living in An Phu, Tan Chau, Phu Tan, Chau Thanh and Chau Phu districts and Long Xuyen city.

On this occasion, local authorities visited Muslim dignitaries at 12 mosques in the province and 40 Cham poor families.
