The Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and the Vietnam National University in Hanoi (VNU) jointly opened their first course on Nano technology and science in Hanoi on October 19.

Sixteen students from the first course will be trained in Vietnam and will then travel to Japan for further training and to defend their thesis at JAIST.

The JAIST-VNU cooperation programme, which was launched in 2004, is designed to provide high-quality post-graduate training in Nano materials technology, information technology and the knowledge-based science.

JAIST is Japan’s first national graduate school at the prestigious Ishikawa Science Park. It is home to more than 1,000 students coming from countries that span the globe. Since 2000, the VNU has sent more than 30 lecturers and researchers to JAIST for training.
