An Giang exports green skinned mangoes to Australia, US

VOV.VN - The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang in southern Vietnam on January 6 announced the export of shipments of green skinned mangoes to Ausralia and the United States.

This is the first time An Giang has exported its juicy fruit to Australia and the US. The planting area of the fruit has been granted codes by authorized agencies.

The shipments were executed under a contract signed between GAP Cu Lao Gieng Cooperatives of Cho Moi district and Vina T&T Import-Export Company.

Cho Moi district has the largest mango growing area in An Giang province. Currently, the total mango growing area in the district is more than 6,401 hectares, of which green-skinned mangoes are grown mainly in Tan My, My Hiep, and Binh Phuoc Xuan communes on a total area of 4,204 hectares.

In 2015, Binh Phuoc Xuan commune had 7.5 hectares of green-skinned mangoes receiving the VietGAP certification. This was also the first green-skinned mango growing area of An Giang to be certified with VietGAP.

Cho Moi district has currently issued 41 planting area codes for green-skinned mangoes with a total area of more than 6,149 hectares to support the export of the fruit to China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia and the US.
