Vietnam climbs one notch in latest FIFA rankings

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national men’s football team rose one place to reach 94th position in the world, according to the latest rankings released by football’s global governing body FIFA on October 26.

The national team saw 6.89 points deducted following their poor performance in October following a 2-0 loss to China, a 6-0 loss to the Republic of Korea, and a 2-0 defeat to Uzbekistan in three friendly matches during FIFA Days.

Despite three consecutive losses, the national team still inched up one notch to 94th in the world, duly remaining the 13th best team in Asia and in the top position in Southeast Asia.

Thailand dropped 4.06 points, stayed at 112th position in the world and second in Southeast Asia.

The second and third position in Southeast Asia went to Malaysia, world number 137th, and the Philippines, world number 138th, respectively.

In the Asian region, Japan, world number 18th, took the lead position, followed by Iran, world number 21st, the Republic of Korea at 24th in the world, and Australia at 27th in the world.

World Cup champions Argentina remained top of the rankings, with the others in the top three including France and Brazil.
