Vietnam to host Asian Taekwondo Champs

VOV.VN - The Asian Taekwondo Championship is scheduled to run from May 21 to May 31 at Tien Son Sport Center in the central city of Da Nang.

Accordingly, the regional athletes will compete in two categories, including kyorugi (combat) and poomsae (performance).

The Asian Para Taekwondo Open will also be held to coincide with the main event. This marks the fourth time that the country has hosted the tournament. In 2018, Vietnamese athlete Truong Thi Kim Tuyen won a gold medal after defeating Napaporn Charanawat from Thailand 13-5 in the women’s 46kg category. In addition to Tuyen’s success, Pham Thi Thu Hien also brought home a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg category.

The Asian Taekwondo Championships 2024 is considered to be a warmup for Vietnamese athletes before they travel to France to compete at 2024 Paris Olympics.
