The Vietnam Farmers Association has reported that up to nearly 80 percent of rural workers have no vocational training.

The information was released at a workshop held by the Association and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection in Hanoi on September 26.

According to the association’s report, each year, the vocational centres of the association train over 200,000 in jobs while there are an additional one million labourers that need training.

Participants in the workshop spoke about difficulties in vocational training in rural areas and exchanged experience in dealing with them.

Robert Kloos, German Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection, said Vietnam and Germany share many similar difficulties and challenges in training rural workers and this workshop has presented a good opportunity for farmers from the two countries to share experience in tackling the problem.
