The European Commission (EC) announced on November 29 that it will provide 460,000 euro to more than 12,000 of the most vulnerable victims of Typhoon Xangsane in central Da Nang city.

The EC said in a press release that the project will be implemented by the two non-governmental organisations Development Workshop France and Save the Children Sweden, which have practical experiences in disaster-responsiveness measures.

The two organisations will provide not only technical assistance to help rehabilitate and rebuild destroyed houses but also future measures to cope with threats of natural disasters. More than 12,000 of the most vulnerable victims will directly benefit from these activities and another 140,000 are expected to benefit indirectly from their own housing upgrades.
