Vietnam lifted to second division in world table tennis champs

Vietnam finished second in the World Team Table Tennis Championships’ third division in Halmstad, Sweden, on May 5.

The Southeast Asian representative lost 0-3 to Lithuania in the final match.

Doan Ba Tuan Anh was defeated 1-3 by Medardas Stankevicius, Nguyen Anh Tu lost 0-3 to Tomas Mikutis and Dinh Quang Linh was beaten 2-3 by Rimas Lesiv.

With their victory, Vietnam earned a berth in the second division next season, as well as a higher world ranking, which will be released next month.

Earlier in their tournament, Vietnam overcame Israel 3-1 in the semi-finals and Finland 3-1 in the quarter-finals, after finishing third in the group stage.
