Vietnamese boxer to compete at WBA Asia Championship
VOV.VN - Local boxer Le Huu Toan is scheduled to fight on March 19 at the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia Championship in Ho Chi Minh City.
The competition will see Toan face off against his rival Kitidech Hurunsuk of Thailand who heads to Vietnam with a record of wining all eight of his previous bouts.
Meanwhile, Toan boasts a record of three victories as a professional. However, this will be the first time the Vietnamese boxer has competed in a 12-round fight in the minimum weight category.
Toan is currently the reigning champion of the National Boxing Championships in the under 48 kg category. He also used to practice Vovinam, a Vietnamese martial art.
In recent history two Vietnamese boxers, Tran Van Thao and Truong Dinh Hoang, also claimed the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia Super Flyweight and Super Middleweight titles, respectively.
