360 Vietnamese citizens safely repatriated from US, Japan

VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on November 7-8 brought home nearly 360 Vietnamese citizens stranded in the United States and Japan due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passengers on the repatriation flight were children, the elderly, sick people, students who had finished training courses but without accommodation due to the closure of dormitories, and other special cases.

Vietnamese representative agencies in the Unites States and Japan worked closely with relevant agencies of the host countries to assist the citizens with travel to San Francisco and Los Angeles airports in the US and Narita airport in Japan to complete procedures before departures.

Vietnam Airlines has strictly implemented security, safety, and epidemiological measures during the flight to ensure the passengers’ health and prevent the possible spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

As soon as the plane landed at Da Nang International Airport, central Vietnam, all crew members and passengers underwent medical supervision and were transferred to concentrated quarantine facilities in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Vietnamese agencies are arranging similar repatriation flights in the near future to bring home Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas according to their wishes as well as the epidemic situation and quarantine capacity in the country.
