Thirteen scholarships worth a total of VND450 million were awarded to students studying IELTS at the British Council.

A ceremony to present the scholarships will take place on August 31 at the British Council office in Ho Chi Minh City.

In a total of 13 scholarships, two worth VND200 million will be provided for students who plan to study overseas, one worth VND100 million for study in the US and the remaining worth VND15 million each for study in Vietnam.

The three top successful scholarship winners are Ha Mai Quyen who will study at Saint Andrew’s in the US, Dinh Ngoc Thuy, who will study at Canberra University in Australia, and Le Minh Dung who will go to Newcastle University in the UK.

The successful candidates, who come from Can Tho, Binh Duong, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will begin their courses at universities and colleges in 2011

To win the scholarships, the contestants had to compete in strict contests including interviews, writing impressive application letters, and giving presentations in English on teaching English and scholarships.
