At the press conference
According to the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS), peak dates of the month will be from May 8 (International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day) to May 19 (birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the first Honorary President of the VRCS).

A launching ceremony will be held at Ngoc Son Temple, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi on April 11.

First held by the VRCS in 2018, the programme aims to call for support to people in difficult circumstances and spread humanitarian activities, thus intensifying social connectivity and consolidating national strength.

The VRCS aims to assist hundreds of thousands of needy people in the month, it said.

The programme has received the enthusiastic response of people, organisations and businesses across the country, including the Vietnam Post, the Vietnam Military Industry and Telecoms (Viettel), Vietnamnet e-newspaper and Vietnam Border Guard High Command which have carried out various activities to raise fund for needy people.

The VRCS has also launched a contest to select best television documentaries featuring outstanding humanitarian models and individuals.

Entries will be sent the organizer from May 1 to October 10.
