Conference elevates Vietnam as attractive destination for Japanese tourists

VOV.VN - A Vietnam tourism promotion conference was held on July 12 in Tokyo as part of efforts to elevate the nation as an attractive tourism destination among Japanese tourists.

The event is also part of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Upon addressing the event, Trinh Ngoc Thanh, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, affirmed that the function provides an ideal venue in which companies, travel agents, Vietnamese airlines, and partners based in Japan to devise orientations for co-operation to seize opportunities from the recovery of the tourism industry.

After nearly 30 years since establishing air routes to Japan, Vietnam Airlines is proud to make a significant contribution to the strong strategic relationship between both nations for over 50 years, Thanh added.

For his part, Pham Huy Binh, chairman of Saigontourist Group, emphasised that Japan represents a key market for Vietnamese tourism and ranks among the five most important international markets of Saigontourist Group.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the group received more than 200,000 Japanese tourists every year heading to Vietnam, while Saigontourist Travel Service Company, a subsidiary of Saigontourist Group, also brought tens of thousands of Vietnamese tourists to Japan.

On the occasion, Saigontourist Group and Vietnam Airlines signed a tourism development co-operation agreement with leading Japanese partners, such as the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), the Japan Tourism Promotion Agency (JNTO), ANA, Peace In Tour, and MS Tour.

Under the terms of the agreement, relevant stakeholders fully committed to accelerating two-way tourism, reviving the tourism industry and developing new product lines as well as increasing international routes and strengthening tourism marketing activities between the two countries.

Following a series of programmes seeking to promote Vietnamese destinations in Japan, a similar event will be held in Osaka on July 14.
