President Sang bids farewell to Bangladeshi diplomat

(VOV) - President Truong Tan Sang on November 25 received outgoing Bangladeshi Ambassador Supradip Chakma who came to say goodbye before ending his working term in Vietnam.

At the meeting, President Sang appreciated the Ambassador’s positive contributions to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and thanked his nation for supporting Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and the current process of national development.

He suggested the two sides review signed agreements in order to facilitate the expansion of investment opportunities aiming to lift two-way trade turnover to US$1 billion in the time ahead.

“Both nations should continue to increase high-level delegation exchange, push up economic cooperation, and provide mutual support at regional and international forums.” Sang told the Bangladeshi diplomat.

On the occasion, through the ambassador, President Sang extended an invitation to his Bangladeshi counterpart to visit Vietnam in the near future.

For his part, Ambassador Supradip Chakma argued that the fine relations between the two sides serve as an important prerequisite for businesses to fully utilize business cooperation opportunities, principally in garments and textiles, information- technology, education-training and agriculture. Additionally, Bangladesh wishes to share experience in ensuring food security with Vietnam, he added.

Regarding international relations, Supradip Chakma emphasized with the strategic position of Bangladesh, the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries will help expand cooperation with India and South Asia. He also confirmed his country’s willingness to share experience with Vietnam in the peaceful settlement of sea disputes.
