COVID-19: Two more positive Vietnamese returnees take national tally to 1,212

VOV.VN - Two further Vietnamese returnees from Russia and France were diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of active cases 1,212, the Ministry of Health said on November 6.

In the morning on the same day, three other imported cases were also confirmed to carry the novel coronavirus, with the overall figure of the day registering five.

Of the total infections, 691 cases were caused by local transmission, including 551 linked with Da Nang following a COVID-19 outbreak which hit the central city on July 25.

As many as 1,070 patients have gone on to recover from the virus, with 35 individuals dying from complications related to the disease. Most of the fatalities were made up of elderly individuals or those suffering from serious underlying health conditions.

Among the patients currently receiving treatment, 30 have tested negative for the virus at least once or several times. At present, there are no COVID-19 patients in critical condition in health facilities.

There are more than 14,060 people who came into close contact with confirmed cases or who arrived in the nation from pandemic-hit regions who are currently in quarantine, including more than 200 at hospitals, whilst the remainder are at other quarantine sites and places of residence.

With the COVID-19 pandemic potentially returning at any time, the Ministry of Health has advised people to wear face masks in crowded places, wash their hands with soap or hand sanitizer regularly, avoid large gatherings, maintain a distance from each other, and complete health declarations.
