Two new airports to take shape in central Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Transport is scheduled to build two new air terminals in central Vietnam from now till 2030, the ministry said in its transport development plan for the north-central and central coastal region till 2030 with a vision for 2045.

Priority will be given to strongly and synchronously developing national and international logistics systems associated with seaports, airports, international border gates, key economic corridors and inter-regional trade routes in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces.

With regard to aviation infrastructure, the ministry will upgrade, renovate and improve the efficiency of the nine existing airports in the region, and at the same time, invest in building two new airports: Phan Thiet and Quang Tri.

It will work alongside relevant localities to invest in building an aviation logistics center linked to Da Nang and Chu Lai international airports, and arrange logistics centers at airports with transport demand greater than 250,000 tonnes/year.

These centers are required to meet logistics conditions and connect appropriate modes of transport for shipments at Da Nang and Chu Lai airports.
