At a working session of the Central Committee for Flood Control and Prevention on December 5, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung called for effective relief work to ensure that the injured be taken care of and that no one be left hungry. He said all local resources must be mobilized to repair damaged houses and leave no one homeless.

Deputy PM said the Government will provide 200 tonnes of rice in emergency aid to Phu Quy island.

The Defence Ministry has sent a plane and a ship to bring relief goods to Phu Quy while the Transport Ministry has sent a salvage tug to the island.

According to the National Meteorological Forecasting Centre, the typhoon was expected to continue moving towards the Mekong Delta and the southwestern sea.
