A car bomb and a roadside bomb exploded near a bus terminal in the Iraqi capital on September 8, killing three people and wounding a score of others, police and interior ministry sources said.

The car bomb exploded near a garage at the terminal in the Bayaa district of southwestern Baghdad, followed by the detonation of a roadside bomb after people gathered at the scene.

In a separate incident, three people, including one soldier, were killed when a suicide car bomber targeted an Iraqi army convoy in Mashahidah on the northern outskirts of Baghdad. Ten others, including four soldiers, were wounded.

Attacks are rising against Iraqi army and police, who have taken over at the helm for security in Iraq after the U.S. formally ended its combat mission last week. The United States has just under 50,000 troops in the country.

The bombs near the bus terminal also appeared to target a police patrol, police and interior ministry sources said, and Iraqi police and soldiers were among the dead and wounded.

The interior ministry source put the toll from the explosions near the bus terminal at three killed and 20 wounded. The police source said the blasts killed three and wounded 23.
